Storywriting

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Storywriting ("we", "the app") is a writing tool for organizing stories, characters, timelines, and screenplays. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices — including specifically how we handle data accessed through Google APIs.

What we collect

Google user data

If you choose to connect a Google account — either at sign-up or later from Settings — we request a single, narrow permission: create and edit Google Docs that Storywriting itself creates (Google's drive.file scope). This is used only for the optional "Google Docs sync" feature, which mirrors a story or screenplay you explicitly link into a Google Doc as you write.

With this permission, Storywriting cannot see, open, or modify any other file in your Google Drive — only the specific Doc(s) it creates on your behalf once you turn this feature on. Connecting Google does not change how you log in; your existing email/password sign-in keeps working.

Storywriting's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How we use your data

We use your data solely to operate the app: authenticating you, saving and displaying your own writing back to you, and — only if you enable it — mirroring your writing into a Google Doc you've linked. We do not use your story content or account information for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Payments

Storywriting Pro is sold through our reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record. When you subscribe, Paddle collects your payment details, billing address and tax information under its own privacy policy. Paddle tells us only what we need to run your plan: that a subscription exists, its status and dates, and a customer reference.

AI features

When you use auto-correct, Fix grammar or translation, the text you ask for is sent to Google's Gemini API to produce the result, and sent back to you. We don't keep a separate copy of that text, and we don't use your writing to train AI models.

Where your data is stored

Your account and story data are stored in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase, protected by row-level security so that only you can read or write your own data. The app itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages.

Sharing

We don't sell or share your personal data with third parties. The only outside services involved in running Storywriting are the infrastructure providers necessary to operate it: Supabase (database and authentication), Cloudflare (hosting), Paddle (payments, only if you subscribe), Google Gemini (only when you use the AI tools), and — only for users who explicitly connect it — Google APIs for the Docs-sync feature described above.

Deleting your data

You can disconnect your Google account at any time from Settings, which stops any further syncing. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below.
